Thetford Parkrun participants donned optional fancy dress for the first anniversary of the free 5km event on Saturday – there was even celebratory cake for after.
The timed event – which is run entirely by volunteers – saw a record number 151 people show up to walk or run in the town’s Abbey Meadows.
Event director Melanie Floyd said she was ‘over the moon’ with the event’s success, which she attributed to it being ‘community driven’ and ‘very sociable’.
She said the event was also ‘quite unique’ in not focusing on athletics club memberships.
Course times vary from just over 16 minutes to more than an hour.
