The new B1112 underpass is due to open this Saturday (October 18) as the A11 dualling scheme enters its final phase of construction.
Work to open the underpass will take place overnight on Friday to be completed by 6am on Saturday, subject to satisfactory weather conditions.
During this time there will be no access onto or off the A11 from the B1112. Local traffic can access the A11 using the Fiveways roundabout at Barton Mills.
Highways Agency project manager Geoff Chatfield said: “As always, we are working closely with local partners to ensure disruption to road users is kept to a minimum while we continue to work on this important project.”
The underpass replaces the previous staggered junction with the A11, which had a poor accident record and was complicated to use, and will allow traffic to travel directly between the A1065 at Eriswell and the A1101 at Icklingham.
Work on the A11 Fiveways to Thetford dualling and improvement scheme is due to be completed this winter.
