The Bury Free Press Beat It Appeal is now through the £40,000 mark and on its way to its final total of £55,000.

Thanks to generous readers and fund-raising through the year we are aiming to be able to purchase an ultra sound scanner which will help in the diagnosis of Prostate Cancer.

This week Jan Blofield, a urology nurse practitioner tells her story and why she will be running the 10k challenge organised by West Suffolk Hospital to help bolster the appeal.

We have also received a donation from Howard Nurseries at Wortham near Diss who grew pumpkins for Halloween. They have donated £22 from the sale of the pumpkins to the appeal.

Keep up your fantastic support for this vital piece of machinery at our local hospital and, with your support, we aim to reach our target by the end of the year.
