Have your say

Have you ever had ambitious hopes, which have been way too big to share, for fear of sounding silly?

Goals from which you’ve walked away due to lack of time, fear of the unknown or uncertainty about how to make them come true?

Fear is something that sits deep within most of us and I am sure that even the most confident of people have something that brings uncertainty and makes their stomach feel like it’s made from jelly.

I certainly get an attack of the collywobbles at the first thought of stepping out of my comfort zone and I instantly become my own worst enemy. All those ideas that magically appear in the calmness of the night suddenly seem like unreachable fantasies in the cold light of day.

The questions strike like someone nagging their finger… can I, should I, what if?

Oh, what if, what if, what if! What if they say no? What if I fail? What if people don’t like my idea?

But it doesn’t stop there, does it?

What if they say yes? What if I succeed? What if they really love it?

Just what if… if… if… these grand ambitions actually lead to a life-changing experience?

If, like mine, your confidence is easily prone to the nagging IF Monster that prevents you from testing your ideas, there comes a time when you just have to grab your biggest mallet from your imaginary arsenal and give it a good thump. It reminds me of a ‘Bash the manic martians’ game that the kids had when they were little.

I gave my IF Monster a good dressing down a few months ago and am delighted that it’s led me to a point where my impossible dreams are now an enormous step closer to being realised.

Ifs and buts are great at keeping us in check, but what if you are capable of so much more?

What if your ideas and persistence can really make your goals true?

What if you can overcome internal fears?

Just what if?
