These are tough times and tough times call for radical solutions.
But the mooted A14 toll seems to discriminate against Suffolk compared to the remainder of the UK.
MPs are taking the fight against the toll to the House. Hundreds are pledging their support via petitions.
One major draw for people to the west of the county is the attractiveness of good, cheap transport links.
That makes us a sensible proposition for homes and house builders, for business and for everything else. The A14 pretty much makes us tick.
Factor in extra costs for hauliers, for the motorist, for the homeowner, for the shopper and then that much-needed cash which has helped us to withstand one of the most severe recessions in recent times could go elsewhere.
We need all our MPs – now, more than ever – to fight our corner and stand up for Suffolk.
