It happens every year - commentators urging us to clean up our collective act when a new year dawns as if the past one has been such a miserable failure.
Newspapers are sometimes as culpable as everyone else so I thought I should kick off 2015 with a more upbeat vibe.

The town’s Festival and Christmas Fayre were hugely popular once more and enabled hundreds to view West Suffolk in a very positive light.
The major landmark for me was the anniversary of the Great War, locally and globally. When I look back on 2014, few sights will rival the Tower of London’s carpet of poppies.
