Priory School in Bury St Edmunds has set up a new Explorer Scout unit. The Atlantis Explorer unit meets at the school and is open to all young people aged 14 to 18.

This joins four existing Bury units each named after a space shuttle.

Priory headteacher, Lawrence Chapman, said: “We wanted to be able to offer more activities for young people after school and we know that scouting has a great structure of activities and offers fantastic opportunities for those involved.”

The Priory unit began meeting in December and its Explorers have already been working on first aid and computing badges. They also have a night hike organised for February.

Anyone interested in joining Explorers can contact Andrew Waller, Explorer district commissioner on 01638 552361.
