Age UK organise ROC24 event at Culford School with Run or Cycle Events

Runners are invited to enter an endurance event of unlimited distance for Age UK Suffolk.

The charity has partnered with sports organiser Run or Cycle Events to create ROC24, a 24-hour long challenge inside the grounds of Culford School, near Bury St Edmunds.

From the gun at 10am on Saturday, June 1, until the klaxon at 10am on Sunday, June 2, individuals or teams of up to eight are challenged to accumulate as many miles as possible. Organisers say they hope the inaugural event will have a ‘festival environment’.

“We have had an amazing amount of individuals and teams from far and wide enter already,” said Greg Cooper, Run or Cycle Events Director.

“This is great news for us and our charitable partner Age UK Suffolk of course. We have all been affected by the challenges faced by friends and family in later life, and so we are very proud to help support the services provided by this great charity.”

Mr Cooper said runners will complete laps and when the final klaxon sounds, entrants complete the lap they are on before finishing.

Jo Reeder, Age UK Suffolk’s head of fundraising, is taking part.

She said: “As a charity, we are particularly keen on partnership and team working, and would love to encourage teams of competitors to take part, and choose to support Age UK Suffolk as part of their activity.”

There is no deadline to sign-up, but organisers encourage entry as soon as possible.
