Night closures on the A14 between Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds see 'crazy' diversion route in place

Road closures on the A14 have seen journeys between Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds take up to two hours.

The A14 westbound carriageway between junctions 51 and 43 is closed due to roadworks from 8pm and 6am until August 17.

A diversion route is in place which takes drivers up the A140 towards Diss before joining on to the A143 back to Bury.

Highways England have said that the diversion route should take around 55 minutes.

But drivers have taken to Twitter to say that the 'crazy' route has taken up to double that time.
