The force was with a pair of newlyweds who were determined to make it to a sci-fi exhibition in Bury St Edmunds on the same day as their wedding.
Huge Star Wars fans Yvonne and Michael Sandberg thought they wouldn’t be able to get to the launch of the town’s Sci-Fi & Action Exhibition at Moyse’s Hall on Saturday due to their big day.
It was very exciting to get the pictures with Darth Vader, Drath Maul and the StormtroopersYvonne Sandberg
After their ceremony at the Athenaeum and lunch, they nipped down anyway in their wedding attire to get a picture with members of the Norwich Star Wars Club Suffolk Division.
Mrs Sandberg, 26, of Bury said: “We saw the poster advertising it and thought it’s a shame we can’t go because it’s the wedding on that day.
“We thought we would go anyway and see it.
“It was very exciting to go to get the pictures actually with Darth Vader, Darth Maul and the stormtroopers and to actually sit in the Back to the Future car was pretty cool too.
“ We went down to the end of it (the exhibition) aswell on Saturday.”
The couple have been together for two years and Mrs Sandberg says her husband, who is an aircraft engine mechanic, gets called ‘Chewie’ at work ‘because he mumbles’.
Asked what they like about Star Wars, Mrs Sandberg, a childminder, said: “It’s the excitement of it - the costumes and everything. There’s always something new in the movies.
“The trailer for the new film looks really good but I don’t want to say anything until I see the film properly.”
The exhibition attracted thousands of sci-fi fans who had the chance to meet actors from Star Wars and Batman and enjoy a wealth of props and memorabilia from a range of films and TV shows.
