A new waste transfer station is to be built in Bury St Edmunds.

The proposed facility at Rougham Hill Household Waste Recycling Centre will see waste transferred onto larger vehicles to be taken to Great Blakenham to be turned into energy.

The existing site will be redesigned to incorporate the station. Cllr Richard Smith, cabinet member responsible for waste at Suffolk County Council, said: “Waste transfer stations are an important part of reducing the road miles our waste travels.”

A public exhibition is at Bury Rugby Club on June 27 from 3pm to 8pm. Visit until July 12 to comment.
