A new teaching block has opened at the IES Breckland free school in Brandon, to help accomodate its year seven students.

The building features a library, IT suite with new I-Macs, as well as seven new classrooms.

A nuture centre is included for children to catch up on key reading and writing skills.

Cllr Bill Bishop who represents Brandon at Suffolk County Council has given £3,000 of his locality grant to buy books for the new library.

Principal Sherry Zand said: “We are delighted with the new-build and the extra space it offers us.

“The classrooms are a good size and well insulated for sound, so that our pupils can learn in a calm and purposeful environment.”

Year nine pupil Thomas Kent said: “It’s brilliant to have this new building. The design is really modern and the rooms feel bigger and quieter.”

Breckland is Swedish education provider IES first school in the UK.
