New Stowmarket McDonald's could create 65 jobs and open later this year

A new McDonald’s in Stowmarket has passed its latest planning hurdle and could open by the end of the year.

The drive thru restaurant, off Gun Cotton Way, should create at least 65 full and part-time jobs.

Last week, Mid Suffolk District Council planners granted permission for a children’s play area play frame, digital order displays and goal post-style vehicle height restrictor associated with the drive thru, further to previous planning approval for the restaurant.

There were no objections to the latest scheme and planners said the new elements were ‘desirable’.

A McDonald’s spokesman said: “We believe the new restaurant would bring investment to the local community as well as creating at least 65 new full and part-time jobs.

“We expect to open towards the end of 2019.”
