The Post Office in Elveden could be moving to a new location in the village under proposals put forward by its owners.
In plans to modernise the facility, it would be moved to The Courtyard Bookshop on the Elveden Estate, around 400m from its current location in London Road, and redesigned as an ‘open-plan environment’.
A public consultation opened today (March 19) to gauge public opinion of the new store, which would open seven days a week with an extra 20 business hours.
Will Russell, Post Office regional manager, said: “We understand how important having a Post Office is to residents in Elveden.
“We are confident this new modern Post Office service will meet the needs of the local community and secure services for the future.
“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office, and marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.”
