After extensive testing new play equipment has got the thumbs up from delighted pupils at a Mildenhall primary school.

Equipment including a slide and climbing frame has been installed at Great Heath Primary School.

The purchase was made thanks to a £25,000 grant from Mildenhall Parish Council.

John Bloodworth, chariman of Mildenhall Parish Council, said: “It was so nice to see it put together and running - it was very nice.”

At a celebration to mark the opening Paige Sjolin, 10, and Dion Jeffery, 9, both of who sit on the school council, broke a ribbon while travelling down the new slide at high speed.

Great Heath Primary School moved to its current location in Girton Close last year into a building formally used by College Heath Middle School.

The donation has allowed the installation of play equipment suitable for primary school age children.

Jo Ansell Great Heath Primary School’s business manager said: “It brings in the outdoor play and them interacting with each other. It’s gone really well - they absolutely love it.”

Mrs Ansell thanked the parish council on behalf of the school for their donation.

The installation of the equipment was secured with help from The Friends of Great Heath Primary School and the governors.
