residents were able to purchase fresh produce from a local market last week when the new Mildenhall Farmers’ Market made its debut.
More than 300 people attended the farmers’ market, which will be held on the last Saturday of every month in the Jubilee Centre.
At the first market, there were 20 stalls selling a variety of products including, meat, cheese, bread, chutneys, fruit and veg, cards, cakes and even soap and the organisers hope that in the coming months they will have more stallholders to provide an even greater variety of products.
The market is organised by David Hardy and Daryl Turner.
Daryl said: “It went really, really well. We were packed out – I was quite surprised.
“We hope to build on what we have achieved already.”
Forest District Council’s portfolio holder for economic development and tourism, David Bowman, said: “I thought it was very, very good – lots of stallholders and lots of people. A great success.”
