Cllr Chris Barker was elected chairman of Forest Heath District Council at Wednesday’s annual meeting.
Cllr Chris Barker has been elected chairman of Forest Heath District Council.
He replaces outgoing chairman Cllr Eddie Stewart.
Cllr Barker said: “I am looking forward to the year ahead although I am sure it will be challenging with some difficult decisions to be made.”
During his time as chairman Cllr Stewart raised £1720 for UK brain cancer charity, Braintrust.
He said: “I have enjoyed my time as chairman and would like to thank everyone who has helped and supported me in my fund-raising efforts.
“This money will help towards a range of personal support services for brain tumour patients.”
Cllr Barker will raise money for Nicky’s Way, a charity that offers bereavement support for children and young people.
Cllr Andy Drummond was elected Vice Chairman.
