THREE prestigious Bury St Edmunds venues are set to transform their catering services as a new company comes in to provide hospitality.
Sodexo Prestige has been chosen by St Edmundsbury Borough Council to provide hospitality and catering at The Apex, the Athenaeum and the Abbey Gardens.
Events at Moyse’s Hall Museum are also included in the agreement.
The company, which employs 35,000 people in the UK and Ireland, will manage meetings, conferences, private parties and weddings at the venues. They will also manage the cafe, bars and kiosks at the Apex and Abbey gardens.
Cllr Sara Mildmay-White, St Edmundsbury Borough Council cabinet member for culture and sport, said she was delighted with the deal.
She said: “We have undertaken a thorough process to find a partner to help us to develop the catering and hospitality potential of our popular town centre venues.
“I am delighted that Sodexo Prestige share our ambitions and that the agreement will benefit Council Tax payers and customers alike.”
Account director for Sodexo Prestige Richard Wheeler said: “Sodexo Prestige has a fantastic pedigree in the leisure market including the West Wing at Ickworth, Knebworth House and the Churchill War Rooms.
“Central to us being awarded this contract was our ability to illustrate local knowledge, culinary flare, environmental credentials and commercial approach.”
