Musical madness in Bury St Edmunds school performances

A school in Bury St Edmunds held a production of a series of musicals to end the term.

Moreton Hall Preparatory School in Bury St Edmunds held the performances with scenes from various different musicals, which involved the whole school.

The musicals performed included, Aladdin, Mamma Mia, The Lion King, The Wizard of Oz, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Grease and Bugsy Malone.

Pupils celebrated Easter by dressing as their favourite characters for the big performance.

Chris Moxon, current headmaster, wrote a comical scene based on his handover to Lorna Wakerell, who will be taking over as headmistress in September.

Mrs Wakerell said: “By the end of it all parents were standing on their feet singing one of the Mamma Mia songs. They all ended standing up and clapping.”

There were three performances at the school all in front of a full house - one matinee and two evening shows.

Mrs Wakerell added: “The children absolutely loved it, the thing about Moreton Hall is that all the children all work together from four years old to 14 years old – the Year 8s completely took over.”
