Elveden’s new Post Office was officially opened today by West Suffolk MP Matthew Hancock.

The village’s Post Office has moved from a shop on the old A11, where it had been since Victorian times, to the Courtyard Bookshop, about 200 metres away in the Elveden Estate Courtyard complex.

I am very pleased that Elveden has retained such an important community service in the heart of the village.

“Post Offices are a vital public service. It is right that people should continue to have access to postal services at locations close to them.”

The Post Office says the new branch is open an extra 20 hours a week including all day Sunday and Wednesday and Saturday afternoons. The branch opens longer every day as the old branch closed mid-afternoon.

Post Office services will be provided during the bookshop’s opening hours: Monday to Saturday: 9:30am to 5pm; Sunday: 10am to 5pm.
