Mourners release hundreds of balloons in A11 crash victim’s memory
As a flurry of more than 200 pink balloons drifted into the night sky, friends and family remembered a much-loved beauty therapist.
Lauren Danks, a ‘highly regarded and popular member’ of the Aqua Sana team at Center Parcs Elveden Forest, died early last month as the result of a road crash on the All, near Red Lodge.
The 22-year-old lived in Soham, Cambridgeshire, with her parents Bob and Claire and three brothers.
Social media sites, set up in her memory, have been inundated with messages remembering a young woman said to be ‘beautiful inside and out’.
On Sunday, Lauren’s friends, including Georgia Metterhauser and Megan Hind, organised a tribute in Fordham with hundreds of people releasing balloons carrying heart-shaped tags, bearing personal messages, as their way of saying goodbye.
Lauren’s parents messaged their thanks for what they called a ‘truly beautiful tribute’.
“What you did has truly touched our hearts as did Lauren to so many people. Thank you for doing this for our princess, it was just beautiful,” they said.
A service of thanksgiving for Lauren’s life will take place at noon on Friday (December 9) at St Andrew’s Church, in Soham.
