A motocross rider died on a track at Tuddenham after colliding with a tree, an inquest has been told.

Wayne Austin, 53, lost control of his Honda motorcycle while travelling along Green Lane with two other riders on April 13.

Today (Thursday) at Suffolk Coroners Court, in Ipswich, an inquest into the death of Mr Austin was formally opened by Suffolk Coroner Dr Peter Dean.

The hearing was told that emergency services had been called to the incident but Mr Austin, of Parkgate Road, Mollington, Chester, was declared dead at the scene by a paramedic.

Dr Dean said initial reports spoke of Mr Austin having left the track and collided with a tree.

A post mortem examination conducted by consultant pathologist Dr Carol Kaminska concluded that Mr Austin died as a result of multiple chest and abdominal injuries consistent with a road accident.

The coroner adjourned the inquest until September 4 to allow the completion of enquiries.
