A district nurse will be available for people on Moreton Hall, Bury St Edmunds, from next week.

The service, funded by Christchurch in Lawson Place, is being launched on Society Sunday which - starting at 10.30am - will see independent groups who use the church, including speech therapists, a diabetes club, community choir and Alzheimer’s group, celebrated for their good work.

Lesley Williams, the parish nurse, will have a clinic at the church from 10am-4pm on Mondays and Tuesdays.

She will be able to visit people at home and will be licenced to pray with them, if needed, and, though she will not be able to dispense drugs, she will be able to examine people and provide basic healthcare.

The Rev Jonathan Ford said: “She’s an award-winning district nurse and will be able to network with all the other care agencies on the estate and bring our pastoral work another discipline.”
