Scores of people put their best foot forward to walk more than one million steps to raise awareness of a little known medical condition.
Patients, carers and friends from across West Suffolk managed 1,611,997 steps, which were recorded on pedometers, for Lymphoedema Awareness Week.
Walking is a way of alleviating the long-term condition which causes swelling and loss of mobility in limbs.
Partners in Practice, which organised the step challenge, provides a lymphoedema service for the area – available through GP referral and provided at health centres in the area. The programme starts with specialist bandaging and massage before patients are fitted with tailored compression garments.
