Mildenhall Douglas Park play area to reopen in summer holidays

A £60,000 replacement play area is set to open in Mildenhall during the summer holidays.

The facilities in Douglas Park were damaged, deemed unsafe in February and locked off - to the annoyance of some locals.

West Suffolk Council had hoped the play area could reopen before the summer holidays which, for many schools, is set to begin Wednesday, July 24.

However, the authority has not given an exact date for the reopening.

A statement added: "Designs for the new play area have been shaped following discussions with children at St Mary’s Church of England Academy.

"The new play area is to be installed in the coming weeks and subject to the weather, it should open during the school summer holidays with local children set to lead the community celebrations."
