A public consultation is being held in Beck Row about the future of the village’s community centre.

Beck Row Community Association is asking villagers to give their views on plans to move the centre out of the primary school to make space for new classrooms.

The association currently has a lease until 2093 on a hall, with kitchen, toilets and car park, on the school site but has been asked to move by Suffolk County Council to give space for new classrooms to cope with an expanding school population.

The county has suggested building a new parish hall and visitor centre on a corner of the nearby Aspal Close Nature Reserve, with additional land being given to the reserve to compensate.

A public consultation will be held from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Tuesday April 12 in the Community Centre, Lamble Close, when plans will be on view with representatives from county, district and parish councils on hand.

That will be followed at 7.45pm by a meeting to discuss and vote on whether the association should enter legal negotiations to move.
