St Edmundsbury Mayor Patrick Chung looked as if he had found a way to control unruly councillors when he opened the Memorial Room at RAF Honington Heritage Centre last Wednesday.

Apart from getting his hands on some of the exhibits, he was able to see the RAF Regiment’s history from its formation in 1942 up to operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. The regiment has the role of protecting RAF bases. Volunteers have been working on the Memorial Room for several months.

The centre is open to the public on pre-booked visits on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 4pm. Book on 07733 583634 or at www.rafregt.org.uk
