A SUPPORTER of drugs rehabilitation charity Focus 12 is donning her walking boots to help raise vital funds for the work it does with people coping with addiction.
Sarah Stamp, a St Edmundsbury borough councillor and marketing professional, is to walk along the Pembrokeshire coast - a distance of a marathon, 26 miles.
Joining her is fellow supporter Lesley Canham, a legal secretary also from Bury.
Focus 12 lost £130,000 funding from Suffolk County Council last year and is now more reliant on fund-raisers for money.
The charity, which also offers support to families, has celebrity patrons such as Russell Brand, Davina McCall and Boy George, but still relies on vital donations.
Sarah has organised lots of events to raise money for the cause including sponsored skydiving days but could not take part as she is terrified of heights.
Instead she is doing the walk with Lesley, although the terrain will be more hilly than here in Suffolk which could prove challenging, she said.
The walk is between July 13 and 15 and the pair plan the camp out Friday evening, before walking 13 miles on both Saturday and Sunday.
Sarah is hoping to raise £1,000 for the charity. She said: “The more you talk to people that have been affected, the more inspired you feel to help.”

n Because it no longer receives local authority funding, local GPs cannot refer patients to the Risbygate Street programme but the charity does take GP referrals from elsewhere in the country.More on Focus 12 is at www.focus12.co.uk
