Thetford Air cadet Cadet Mantvydas Senkus from 1109 Squadron broke shot and discuss records at the recent Norfolk and Suffolk ATC Wing Athletics Championships.

The 13-year-old who has been with the squadron for 12 months earned two gold medals and a trip to RAF Cranwell to represent the Wing at the regional competition. This was held on Sunday and Mantvydas won shot putt and came third in discuss.

He will now represent Central and East Region at the Corps athletics competition on June 20.

At the Wing event Mantvydas awas also named ‘best overall male’ out of hundreds of cadets at what was his first appearance in ATC athletics.

He said: “I had a fantastic day at the competition and it was great to break two records and receive an award for best overall male. It is something I will be proud of throughout my time in the air cadets and I will aim to better the records in 2016.

Squadron Sports Officer Civilian Instructor, Daniel Cooper, said: Cadet Senkus showed great enthusiasm towards our practice sessions and he has certainly done himself and the squadron proud.”
