Man who died in A11 collision believed to be in his early 20s and from Norfolk

Police are appealing for information after a man believed to be in his early 20s died in a two car collision on the A11 yesterday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene of the collision just north of Fiveways on the A11 at approximately 1.45am.

Two vehicles, a silver BMW and a silver Toyota Corolla, had collided and the BMW had caught alight.

The driver of the BMW, who is believed to be from Norfolk, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 60s, the driver of the Toyota Corolla, was taken to West Suffolk Hospital with a broken sternum.

The A11 north of Fiveways at Barton Mills was closed and diversions were put in place whilst officers started a collision investigation.

Recovery of the vehicles took place and the Highways Agency carried out repairs and resurfacing to the carriageway.

The road re-opened at just before 5pm yesterday.
