Three people have been arrested after staff at a Barningham shop were threatened with a metal pole during a robbery on Tuesday.

Police were called to the Spar in Church Road at 9.59pm.

A man entered the store holding a metal pole and demanded money and alcohol. He then left the premises taking cash and three bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey.

No staff were injured.

Police searched the local area with dog units and three people – a 22-year-old man from the Bury St Edmunds area; a 25-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, both from the Diss area – were arrested in a nearby village at around 2.10am on suspicion of robbery.

They were taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where they remain.
