Man rescued by fire crews after Bury blaze

A MAN had to be rescued by firefighters after a blaze in a ground floor flat early this morning (Sunday).

The incident took place in Nowton Road, Bury St Edmunds at around 1am.

Three fire crews from Bury St Edmunds were called to the scene and had to free the man from the flat. He was then taken to hospital by ambulance.

The crews managed to put out the blaze within half an hour.
