The A14 was temporarily closed in both directions near Risby last night after a man threatened to jump off a flyover.

Police were initially contacted about concerns for the safety of a man. Officers attended the flyover, at junction 41 near Risby, at around 8.40am and found a man stood near the edge who was threatening to jump off.

The carriageway was closed so police could get the man down from the edge, which they eventually managed to do.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk Police said he had been given mental health support and will now receive the appropriate care.
