Man dies after being struck by train in Thetford

A man was killed last night after being struck by a train in Thetford.

It happened near to Mundford Road shortly before 10.45pm.

A spokesman for the British Transport Police (BTP) said: “Our officers attended, alongside colleagues from Norfolk Police and the East of England Ambulance Service, and discovered a man - believed to be 33 and from the local area - had been struck and killed by a train.”

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service Trust said they were called to the incident just before 11pm.

An ambulance crew, ambulance officer, Hazardous Area Response Team and the East Anglian Air Ambulance attended.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious.

The BTP spokesman said its officers would be assisting in the compilation of a report for the coroner.
