Man charged with burglary and driving offences in Bury

A 36-year-old man has been charged with a burglary in Bury St Edmunds, aggravated vehicle taking and driving offences.

Jamie Paton, of no fixed abode, was arrested on January 21 in connection with a burglary at a home in Norman Road where car keys were stolen and a Ford Focus taken off the drive.

Following the burglary, which took place overnight between January 11 and 12, the car was found crashed into a parked Vauxhall car in St Andrews Street South in the town.

Paton was initially bailed to allow further enquiries to be carried out and came back into custody yesterday, Wednesday, March 9,

After being detained overnight he appeared at Ipswich Magistrates’ Court this morning and was charged with burglary, aggravated taking of a motor vehicle, driving while disqualified and driving with no insurance.

Paton was remanded in custody ahead of his next court appearance on April 7.
