A 39-year-old man has been charged with six offences following a police pursuit and search which closed on the A14 early this morning.
At around 1am officers on routine patrol on the A12 northbound at Copdock, had cause to follow a vehicle, continuing onto the A14 westbound.
The Ford Focus failed to stop when told to, so a pursuit began, during which officers saw items being thrown from the vehicle.
The car was stopped on the A14 at the junction with the A1120 near Stowmarket at about 1.10am and man was taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
The A14 was closed both ways between junction 51 at Coddenham and junction 52 at Claydon, from 2.15am to 3am while officers assisted by a dog unit searched for the items thrown from the car.
Police say ‘a number of packages believed to contain controlled drugs’ were recovered.
Leon Roberts, of Lordship Terrace, Hackney, has now been charged with possessing a Class B drug, failing to provide a specimen of blood, failing to stop for police, driving without due care and attention, driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.
Roberts has been released on bail to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Monday November 21.
