A 35-year-old man has been charged following an armed robbery at a Stowmarket bookmakers.

A man, armed with a knife, entered Coral, in Market Place, at about 8.25pm on Sunday, March 26 and threatened a member of staff before fleeing with an amount of cash.

Police recovered a knife from a nearby waste bin.

Martin Everdell, of The Grove, Stowmarket, was arrested in connection with the incident yesterday afternoon and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Everdell has been charged with robbery and threatening a person with a bladed article in a public place.

He has been remanded in custody and appeared before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today (Tuesday, March 28).

Everdell was remanded in custody to appear at Ipswich Crown Court on April 25.
