Suffolk Police have yesterday arrested a 59-year-old man from the Ipswich area in connection with the ongoing investigation into historic allegations of abuse at the former St George’s School, Great Finborough in the 1980s.

After questioning at the Martlesham Police Investigation Centre he was bailed to return there in March.

The school’s former headteacher Derek Slade was jailed for 21 years in 2010 after being convicted of three serious sexual assaults, a string of indecent and physical assaults causing actual bodily harm, making 4,486 indecent images of children and being in possession of a false passport in the name of a dead child.

In July this year at Ipswich Crown Court, former maths teacher Alan Brigden, 67, of Nieuwe Weteringstraat, Amsterdam, admitted 14 offences of sexual abuse against children and was jailed for five years.

Brigden used the name Morton when he joined the school in 1979.
