Man attempts to stop Lakenheath car theft by holding onto bonnet




A man attempted to stop the theft of his car by standing infront of it and holding onto the bonnet.

The keys to a white four door saloon Chevrolet Cruze LS were taken during a burglary at a property, in Earls Field, Lakenheath today (August 6).

Access was gained to the property through an unlocked back door between 3am and 3.50am.

As the car was being stolen, the owner attempted to stop the theft by standing in front of the vehicle and holding onto the vehicle bonnet.

At this point the vehicle accelerated fast and drove off.

The owner was slightly injured in the incident.

The vehicle registration is AY62FLG.

Witnesses or anybody who has seen the vehicle or who has any information relating to the incident are asked to contact West CID quoting crime reference 37/46473/19 via www.suffolk.police.uk/contact-us/existing-report-update.

Police are also advising residents to be mindful of home and vehicle security.
