Man assaulted on footpath at the back of DIY store in Bury St Edmunds

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted on a footpath in Bury St Edmunds earlier this month.

The man lost consciousness, suffered a cut lip and required hospital treatement after being involved in an altercation with another man on a footpath at the back of Homebase, in Bedingfeld Way, between 6.30pm to 7.30pm on Friday, October 2.

A 53-year-old man, from Bury St Edmunds, was later arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with the incident.

He was questioned by Suffolk Police officers and released on bail until Tuesday, November 17 pending further enquiries.

Anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or who has any information in relation to it, is asked to contact the Custody Investigation Unit at Bury St Edmunds on 101 quoting reference BU/15/3228.
