Suffolk Constabulary arrest man over graffiti in Bury St Edmunds

A man has been arrested after allegedly spray painting the underside of a railway bridge.

Suffolk Constabulary today (Wednesday, May 1) posted a picture on Facebook of the underpass in Fornham Road, Bury St Edmunds, which shows the graffiti.

The force wrote: “A male has been arrested following damage being caused by spray painting under the railway bridge.

“This was the result of a call from a member of the public. He is currently being held at Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre.”

Police said this was criminal damage (9486698)

But while some commented to welcome the arrest, many have commented on the police’s post to say they liked the graffiti, which they considered art.

One wrote: “People should be allowed to express art that isn't gang related or swearing. It was simply art,” while another called it ‘one of the best pieces of artwork in this town’.

What do you think of the graffiti?
It's great
I hope it is removed
