A man has been arrested in connection with an assault at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds last night (July 5).

Police were called at about 10.15pm to the venue, in Charter Square, after receiving reports that a man had been assaulted.

The victim, a man aged in his 50s, suffered fractures to his skull and jaw and was taken to the West Suffolk Hospital for treatment.

A 39-year-old man was later arrested in Bury St Edmunds town centre on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

He was later released under investigation pending further enquiries.
