A 36-year-old man arrested yesterday following a possible sexual assault in Bury St Edmunds will face no further police action.
Police were called just before 2.30pm yesterday, Thursday May 12, and cordoned off an area near the Out Westgate and Parkway roundabout.
Speaking last night, a police spokeswoman said: “The man was interviewed by detectives and, following his account and work carried out during the day, all reasonable lines of enquiry have now been completed.
“A team of detectives and civilian investigators spent today interviewing witnesses and reviewing CCTV.
“This showed a young woman had fallen over and she is currently receiving help and support from partner agencies.”
“The recent addition of civilian investigators to support existing Operation Gemini police officers and staff has meant an enhanced ability to investigate such reports in a proportionate and efficient manner.”
