A 21-year-old man has been arrested following an incident in Bury St Edmunds at the end of October.

A young woman reported that she had been out on Friday October 30 and had woken around 6.50am the following day in bushes in a coppiced area next to the Parkway pelican crossing, between the Wilco Car Park towards Spring Lane and the fire station.

She was semi-clothed and was with a man she did not know.

Yesterday, a 21-year-old man handed himself into police after seeing publicity about the incident.

He was interviewed by detectives before being bailed until February 17, next year, to allow further enquiries to be carried out.

Police are continuing to ask anyone who may have seen a man and a woman together in the area around 4am on October 31 to come forward.

Anyone with information should call the sexual offences investigation team at Bury by dialling Suffolk Police on 101 and quoting crime number 12551/15.
