Man arrested after car crashes into Kilverstone Tesco store

Police are continuing to search for a man who is thought to have driven a car into the front of a store in Kilverstone on Saturday night.

Officers were called at around 8.30pm to reports two people had made off after crashing a silver Kia Rio into the Tesco Thetford superstore in Kilverstone.

Dog units and the police helicopter were brought in to search for the suspects.

A man in his 20s, from the Thetford area, was arrested for a shoplifting offence and bailed until March 7 pending further enquiries.

Anyone with information about the other person’s whereabouts is asked to contact Pc Leah Norton, of Thetford Safer Neighbourhood Team, on 101 quoting crime reference 36/16637/16.

A spokesman for Tesco said: “We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused to customers and were pleased to reopen on Sunday morning.”
