Man admits robbery in Bury St Edmunds

A man has admitted carrying out a robbery and an attempted robbery at businesses in Bury St Edmunds.

Matthew Eke, 39, of Ashwell Road, Bury, appeared today (October 17) at Ipswich Crown Court via a video link from the prison where he is being held on remand.

Eke pleaded guilty to robbery and possession of an imitation firearm on the night of September 14 at a premises in West Road, Bury.

He also pleaded guilty to attempted robbery and possession of an imitation firearm at a store in Glastonbury Road, Bury, on the afternoon of September 17.

Eke also admitted two thefts of Dyson vacuum cleaners from a store in Bedingfeld Way, Bury, on September 6 and September 14.

Judge Rupert Overbury told Eke he would continue to be remanded in custody until he is sentenced in early December.
