A Bury St Edmunds man accused of attempted rape, robbery and burglary has appeared before a judge.

Kyle Haggerty, 20, of Anselm Avenue, was arrested after an injured man in his twenties was found in Fieldfare Road, Bury St Edmunds during the early hours of July 20.

It is alleged that he had been attacked earlier the same day in Mount Road, Bury.

Today Haggerty appeared at Ipswich Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.

No pleas were entered and Judge Rupert Overbury told Haggerty that he would have to return to court on September 27 for a plea and directions hearing.

Judge Overbury said that until his next court appearance Haggerty would continue to be remanded in custody.
