Man, 98, hanged himself in garden of Creeting St Peter home, inquest concludes


A 98-year-old man took his own life in the garden of his home at Creeting St Peter, an inquest has ruled.

The body of David Robinson was found hanging from a tree at the back of Bonnybridge House on September 18.

An inquest today at Bury St Edmunds heard how Mr Robinson used his wheeled zimmer frame to reach a shed where he took out an 8ft tall stepladder.

Assistant Suffolk Coroner Dr Daniel Sharpstone said a police officer discovered Mr Robinson had used the steps to attach a length of rope from two branches of a tree.

A post-mortem examination confirmed Mr Robinson died as a result of hanging.

Assistant Coroner Dr Sharpstone recorded a conclusion that Mr Robinson had taken his own life.
