Major works planned for section of the A14




Highways England has released a time-table for numerous surveys and maintenance work to be carried out on the A14 at Stowmarket.

The works, between junction 49, Tot Hill Interchange and 50, Cedars interchange, will commence from June 3 to July 8.

A full closure of the A14 eastbound, will take place between June 3 and June 7, during the hours of 8pm and 6am, for bridge bearing monitoring surveys.

This will be followed by bridge joint replacement on the eastbound side of the road at the Hill House viaduct, from June 14 to June 17, for 24 hours a day, from 8pm on the Friday to 6am on the Monday.

The works, between junction 49, Tot Hill Interchange and 50, Cedars interchange, will commence from June 3 to July 8.

A second weekend of replacement in the same place but the Westbound side of the A14 will be undertaken from June 21 to June 24- again 24 hours a day and the same times as the previous weekend.

Road resurfacing, kerbing and lining will take place on the westbound side of that section of the A14 between July 1 and July 8, between the hours of 8pm and 6am.

There are also two contingency weekends, just in case more work is needed for bridge joint replacement, on the eastbound side between June 28 and July 1 and on the westbound side between July 5 and July 8.

During these works, traffic will be diverted via the A1120 and A1308 Gipping Way.
