A lunchtime supervisor is enjoying her retirement after bidding farewell to the village school she has served for 27 years.

Pearl Ashman joined Barrow Primary as a caretaker/cleaner in 1989 and eventually became a lunchtime supervisor on the school playground.

She read and baked with the pupils and even decorated the school’s Christmas trees.

She has also stepped down from her duties as Brown Owl with the Brownies, Rainbows and Girl Guides, which meet at the school.

Mrs Ashman said: “The school is a lovely place and I’ve always been happy there.”
